That is just terrible. He was legal allowed to park there. It is uncalled for and outright mean toRead More even do that regardless. The Police handle that. They ticket cars that are not legally parked
mary parker June 19, 2013 at 02:06 am
I love the jerks that park next to my car in town and open their car door and dent my car. ThisRead More happens every day. people are so inconsiderate. I am so careful with other cars yet they always bang up my car. Especially on Elm Street where the spaces are so narrow. Who the heck did the zone for a car space on Elm Street? They need to redo the inches per parking space to allow small and large vehicles to fit in each space. Car doors opening included.
Elmcrest June 11, 2013 at 05:00 am
That 4th paragraph is trouble. It misspells Talmadge Hill as “Tullmage" Hill. Worse, asRead More written, it says police produced a bag of weed, not the occupant of the car. I get it, rewriting police reports is mind-numbing work, but you still need to get the story straight!
David Gurliacci (Editor) June 17, 2013 at 12:44 pm
Thanks, Elmcrest. The paragraph's been changed.

Who leaves their purse hanging on a coat rack?! Do you leave your front door unlocked with aRead More "Please come in, we're not home, steal from us" sign?
S Dogood June 14, 2013 at 09:58 am
The woman should not have left her purse on the coat rack. Times have changed. 40 years ago, as aRead More child, we did not lock our house even if we went away for a few days. Many parents used to leave the keys to the car in the ignition while they shopped in New Canaan.

Other than get his knickers in a twist and say some silly stuff ... What was his 'crime?' Just wantRead More to know where the line is.
Penny Riordan June 17, 2013 at 03:18 pm
Hi 1CarGarageinNC, sorry I didn't respond sooner, but here is a link to our terms if you ever haveRead More questions about what is appropriate and not appropriate: http://www.patch.com/terms

I came upon a turtle crossing the road just this morning, very early. Not sure if it was a snappingRead More turtle. It was small like the size of a child's fist. It was doomed with the trucks whizzing by, so I picked it up and put it in the grass. I guess that was the wrong thing to do...

Better warn Kate Regan!

@PH: There was nothing snarky about my comment. Compare the percentage of units for sale at thatRead More complex against the # for sale at other condo complexes in town and you'll see for your self.
Patrick Henry May 29, 2013 at 12:18 pm
Not saying you were snarky, but there are many factors that impact sale volume other thanRead More "personalities."

Sue Stone Oates May 26, 2013 at 09:58 am
The color white is chosen as that is the base color of the car. Different colors cost alot moreRead More which then take away from the proceeds, all of which go right back to our school.
e May 27, 2013 at 08:38 am
well, I do thin a religious institution has more of a moral obligation, given its mission, that theRead More private schools do. I am not saying it is the worst thing in the world, but it isn't the greatest either.
Alice Maritis May 27, 2013 at 10:02 am
e, What would you suggest as an alternative, that you would find less amoral than a car?
New Canaan Police Chief Edward Nadriczny

If you have no respect for the man, then why would you care to attend in the first place? Just toRead More be an instigator? Your rants full of what you call "satire" only make you sound vindictive, immature and a bit insane. Keep at it.
Mfrances82 May 21, 2013 at 10:15 am
I'm sure their parents are very proud of them, and that the slap on the wrist they'll receive as aRead More result of a skilled legal team will not even cause a moment's concern for them.
Monica Webster May 21, 2013 at 12:44 pm
Shocking and very sad!!
Four Jacks May 21, 2013 at 01:54 pm
Not going to help on the college applications.

I've said it a million times. If the police want to catch drunk drivers put up te road blocks duringRead More the day. That's when the professional drunks are driving and sadly there are many of them
Dave May 10, 2013 at 08:08 am
Well it really should be up to the parents to teach their kids the value of things like iPhone iPadRead More or what ever important expensive thing it maybe @bradley it's not about what I kid dose around the house to Receive there pay it's up to the parents to be more Responsible In telling their kids to keep there phones iPad laptop or what ever in a safe place it's not the kids fault for brining it it not the kid who stole it but the lake of Parenting to their kids
Four Jacks May 10, 2013 at 09:51 am
Bradley, it all falls into the category of taking care of your stuff, women should not leave pursesRead More on the car seat when not in the car, men should not put their wallets on a bench, kids should not leave their bikes unlocked at a school, etc., etc. You may say I'm blaming the victim, but obviously the "child" did not take appropriate care of his phone, so he IS partially to blame for not securing his item. This is life, take care of your stuff, lock your doors, do not leave your valuables out in public spaces. Just recently a kid left his wallet on a cafeteria table at the HS - money was immediately removed. So yes, the "victim" is partially to blame here.
spencer richardson May 13, 2013 at 04:24 pm
Kinda like the high school girl whose 2013 Mercedes was keyed in the high school parking lot. NotRead More blaming the kids, but blaming the parents. An 11 year old kid does not need a $600 - $700 phone (that's what they cost without a contract), nor does a 17 year old need a $40,000+ car. Sure, they're the victims here and the perpetrators need to be caught and prosecuted. But the parents of these kids should have their heads examined. I'm sure the 11 year old will be handed a new phone, with no consequences for his careless actions, and the girl will have her car repaired, with no consequences. Daddy will take care of it. These kids will enter the real world in due course, except for them it will be LaLaLand.

• When you decide criminal guilt, you are held to a high standard if you are a juror. •Read More The Free Dictionary states: “Beyond a reasonable doubt is the highest standard of proof that must be met in any trial. In civil litigation, the standard of proof is either proof by a preponderance of the evidence or proof by clear and convincing evidence. These are lower burdens of proof. A preponderance of the evidence simply means that one side has more evidence in its favor than the other, even by the smallest degree. Clear and Convincing Proof is evidence that establishes a high probability that the fact sought to be proved is true.” • Do you have evidence beyond a reasonable doubt? This was a criminal, not a civil, matter. The court system generally has access to better information than what you might read in a newspaper or an online blog.

I am confused; maybe someone can clear this up for me. When is it hearsay evidence and when is it anRead More eyewitness account or is there no difference? ------------------- Hearsay evidence – “evidence based not on a witness's personal knowledge but on another's statement not made under oath” (Merriam-Webster online dictionary). ------------ When statements are made by two parts to an altercation that they were involved in is it “Hearsay evidence”? If I witness one spouse striking another and I recount what I saw, is that hearsay evidence? If the police arrest the person whom I saw striking their spouse are they being charged on hearsay evidence? Please help me understand what I am missing.
S Dogood May 6, 2013 at 08:38 pm
Roy, you appear to see the negative in everything. I asked a question because I do not understand.Read More You seem to attack me because you assume that there is a hidden agenda behind every question. Explain to me what I did that was offensive?
Esprit de Corps April 23, 2013 at 11:58 pm
Could you be a little more specific on the charges? Anybody can see that someone's not drivingRead More right when the driver's car is upside down. Besides, almost nobody in New Canaan drives right. Maybe he was distracted thinking about flipping houses and flipped his car instead. Probably he was Headed the wrong way.
humdinger April 24, 2013 at 01:27 am
Can someone be "accused" of flipping a car? I don't really think that is a criminalRead More offense. Driving drunk, yes. Flipping a car, no.

I would really like to see the results of a long-term study focusing on the correlation betweenRead More gross family income and common sense and critical thinking skills among teenagers.
Bradley Cooper is hot!!!! May 8, 2013 at 08:05 am
Perhaps the parents felt the best safe choice for their child. And if they can afford it, why beRead More critical? Again the disconcerting part here is that someone committed a crime!!! You know nothing about the family who owns the car! Perhaps they have taught their child good morals and ethics and happen to like safe German cars..... Step off people
