It is the officially designated 911 medical transport service for New Canaan. Patients are transported to Norwalk Hospital and Stamford Hospital; in life-threatening cases patients are taken to the nearest hospital. NCVAC does not provide non-emergency services.<br /><br />NCVAC was founded in February 1975, starting with shifts from 6pm-midnight. It was an all-volunteer effort and it still is today. All volunteer members are trained EMTs (emergency medical technicians). NCVAC responded to 80 calls in its first year. More than 30 years later, thanks to the generous support of the community, the Corps now provides care for more than 1,600 patients a year and has a new headquarters building.
