What's a mother to do when all her kids leave home?  Where did all those years go?  Where do I go from here?
Follow along on "Journeys with Jane" as I explore the intersection between memory and momentum.  I'll look back on where life has taken me, and see what it means for me in this new time ahead. I moved to New Canaan in 1991, on my son's first birthday (doesn't every get kid a new house when they turn one?). Boy-girl twins followed two years later.   A busy two decades, balanced with quite a lot of community involvement (service on a few Boards, etc. etc.).   I was born and raised in Stamford, which despite its geographic proximity, was like living a world away.  I couldn’t quite envision myself moving to the town where all the girls wore white turtlenecks and red pullovers and the guys loved plaid shorts, but did it anyway, and have been glad to see that New Canaan has established a bit more sartorial diversity since then. I’ve always been proud to say what I think, and this blog might have me saying a few things I’ll regret, but I am thrilled to have this opportunity to live my life out loud.
