Thank you Sheryl. If you link onto Afreedman's page of comments (http://stamford.patch.com/users/afreedman2011) I think you will see a pattern of gratuitous insults.

Other than the one recent comment about a cute dog, he seems to take delight in taunting/insulting Glenn Beck, FS Herbst, Cindy Penkoff, Republicans, people who identify with the "tea party," and in general those who have different views than his own.

When his offensive comments are not removed, I believe that he is personally *satisfied, if not gratified,* that the discussion is closed. Imo, he feels then that he has 'won,' by seeing his insults not removed, while others have been effectively silenced.

I am going to copy this to Aaron Leo and Jamal Powell also, although I sent the message yesterday only to you. Feel free to share my yesterday's message with them if you like.

I'll look into those comments. Some of them do sound like they cross the line.

Thank you for closing the thread regarding "Restoring Courage Event." The terms of use state that "Patch expects all of its users to be respectful of others," and to not post items that are "defamatory, abusive . . . harassing or that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual . . . [or] is inaccurate, false or misleading in any way." It is unfortunate that Afreedman chose to break those rules, leading to the closing of the thread.

I have one additional request regarding the closed thread. Because several of Afreedman's comments on that thread violate the terms of use, I request that you delete them from the thread. The following comments should specifically be deleted:

"Glen Beck...We Jews can really do without the likes of that fraud "

"Just trying to educate people as to the fraud that is Glen Beck."

"Simpleton
Your name says it all."

"Mr. Powell If I was on Stamford patch I would never consider insults or name calling. But here in Trumbull Patch insults and name calling have become a way of life because of the venomous posta of one Ct. Pati, Connecticut's favorite Tetley tea bag." [a vile term describing a homosexual act]

I realize this is making extra work for you, but I believe that removing violating comments will make Patch a better community and lead to more open discussion.

I sent you an e-mail on this, but maybe you haven't seen it. Comments often seem to disappear (and occassionally reappear) from the comments section on articles. Is this a software bug, and if so, is there any effort in the works to fix it? If not a bug, who is deleting the posts and why?
