Car Strikes New Canaan Home Day After Christmas

New Canaan Police are conducting an ongoing investigation into a car that struck a home last week, authorities said Monday.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, a 1993 Volkswagon Passat was traveling south along Main Street at approximately 10:51 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, when the operator, a 22 year old New Canaan man, lost control of the vehicle under unknown circumstances.

The car traveled across Down River Road, across a lawn and struck the porch of a home on the corner of the intersection. The vehicle sustained substantial damage, Ogrinc said, and the driver was transported to Norwalk Hospital after complaining of chest pains, but had no other visible or obvious injuries.

The residence itself sustained damage to the stone front porch, a railing and a post, Ogrinc said.

An investigation and no charges have been levied at the current time, though Ogrinc said updates would be provided upon completion of the investigation.
