Cops: His Accomplice Is Still Out There

A burglar that a Michigan Road resident chased out of his home at about 3 a.m. one night last November had an accomplice, according to New Canaan police.

Miguel A. Palencia, 29, of Sherman Street, Stamford, was arrested March 12 and charged with the Nov. 8, 2013 burglary after police used a palm print and a fingerprint left in the house to identify him, police said.

But the homeowner who confronted Palencia also heard another person leave the house through a different door, and the victim didn't see him, according to police. Police didn't identify any fingerprints from that person.

Palencia said he didn't know the name of the other burglar -- only the street name "Chino" -- and he also told police the man was deported back to El Salvador.

Police called to the scene report signs of forcible entry through a rear first floor window. Nothing was taken from the home, according to the police report, but a vehicle parked in an unattached garage was entered and a GPS was reported stolen.
