The owner of an excavator reported to New Canaan authorities vandalism of the machine's windshield, possibly by a BB gun, police said this week.

According to Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, the Hoyt Farm Road owner discovered on Saturday, June 15, at approximately 8:57 p.m., that his windshield to the excavator had been damaged. Police determined the possible cause as being from a BB gun.

The owner lives next door to where he keeps the machine and placed the value of the damage at approximately $300.
