Casali Reassigned By Detroit Tigers
Curt Casali of New Canaan gets taste of Major League spring training, then re-assigned.
Curt Casali was re-assigned to minor-league camp on Tuesday by the Detroit Tigers. The graduate had been in that selected him in the 10th round of last June's amateur draft.
Casali, who attended Vanderbilt and led the Commodores to their first-ever appearance in the College World Series last year, played in three spring training games for the Tigers, going one for 5.
The hard-hitting catcher started his professional career playing for Norwich (CT) and West Michigan last summer. Both teams are designated as A-ball in the minor-league system. The Tigers have yet to indicate where Casali will start the season, but there is a good chance he'll play for Lakeland, the Tigers Class A affilate in the Florida State League.
