Local Favored for Spot on NHL Team

Max Pacioretty, a left-winger from New Canaan, has a leg up as players gather in Montreal for Canadiens' rookie camp.

The 29 prospects who will gather at the Bell Sports Complex for medical exams Sunday share the same dream—they want to play for the Habs.

But only one player attending the Canadiens' rookie camp has a realistic chance of being on the team's roster on Oct. 1 when the Canadiens play their National Hockey League regular-season opener in Toronto: 20-year-old Max Pacioretty of New Canaan.
