Third Arrest in April Parking Lot Attack on 16-Year-Old

New Canaan police officers traveled to North Carolina to extradite Mark E. Miller.

A third person involved in an at a local parking lot has been arrested, New Canaan police said.

According to a release from Sgt. Carol Ogrinc, Mark. E Miller, 20, of Millport Ave., was arrested on Sept. 7 in Jacksonville, NC. Officers from the traveled to North Carolina to extradite Miller, who was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree conspiracy to commit assault and interfering with a 911 call. Police said Miller posted $50,000 bond and appeared in court on Sept. 13.

Miller is the third man to be arrested in connection with the assault that took place in the parking lot of the Mobil station on South Ave. at approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 29. According to police, the incident began when the victim, who was walking with a friend, was taunted by a group of young men.

“Moments later several men ran toward the victim, grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground,” Ogrinc said in the release. “The victim was held while others intentionally kicked and stomped the victim’s knee causing serious physical injury.”

The victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital.
